John A. English Jr., 77,
passed away September 25, 2009 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa. Born in Chester, Pa,
he has been a resident of Brookhaven, Pa, for the past 4 years. He previously lived in Parkside, Pa, for 42 years and grew up in Garden City, Pa.
He was a machinist for Westinghouse for 34 years and most recently was a crossing guard for Our Lady of Charity in Brookhaven, Pa, for the past 15 years. He was an honorary member of the Parkside Fire House and served with the Fire Police.
He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean war.
He was the loving husband of Jean English, Brookhaven, Pa, for the past 46 years.
He was the devoted father of John English III of Indian Trails, NC,
Nancy McGugin of Aberdeen, Md, and Susan Wallace of Brookhaven, Pa. He was the brother of the late Margaret “Peggy” Mervine.
He was the proud grandfather of 3 and was predeceased by his grandson, Adam J. McGugin.
Funeral service Wednesday 1pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Wednesday 11am-1pm at the funeral home.
Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, Pa.
