Arlene Lantz Davis, 89, passed away June 11, 2016 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa. Born in Lancaster, Pa, and spent her early childhood in Lancaster County where she attended a one room country school house. She was a long time resident of Wallingford, Pa, and also resided in Pot-Nets, Millsboro, De, for a number of years before returning to Wallingford. She was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1945. Arlene was actively involved in many interests and organizations. She was a founding member of the Garden City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Creekside Swim Club, a member of The Eastern Star Chapter 16 in Lewes, De, a former member of Providence Avenue United Methodist where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and belonged to the United Methodist Women, a former member of Long Neck United Methodist Church. She was currently an active member of Christ United Methodist. She was the President of the UMW, member of Mary Martha Sisters, Brookhaven Seniors, Brookhaven AARP, and the Undercover Quilters. She also loved to play cards on Friday nights, enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was very musically inclined, playing the piano and organ and singing. She was an avid reader, a great baker, and also dabbled in oil and water color painting. She will be remembered for her sweet and thoughtful nature and her dedication to her family. She would do anything for anybody and always thought of others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Ethel Lantz; her grandson Matthew James Davis; and her brother Joe Lantz.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years J. Alfred Davis Jr.; her children Barbara Chivalette (Bob),Garnet Valley, Diane Greene (Tom),Brookhaven, Jim Davis (Beckie),Glen Mills, Rob Davis (Melinda),Wallingford, and Debbie Gosner (Chuck),Charleston, SC; her brothers Eugene, Gordon, and Norman Lantz; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild on the way.
Funeral service Friday 11am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Friday 9-11am at the funeral home. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, Pa.
