Alfred R. Coe October 15, 1925 - June 30, 2017

Alfred R. Coe, age 91, died June 30, 2017, at the Christiana Hospital in Delaware.  A long- time resident of Delaware County, later in his life in Chester and Lancaster Counties, he most recently was living in The Summit In Hockessin, De.  The youngest son of the late Frederick J. Coe and Emily L. Coe, he was predeceased by his wife, Norma E. Coe with whom he shared over 63 years of Marriage.  He was also predeceased by all his siblings: Frederick, Emily, Lois, Catherine, Ada, Anita, Wilfred and Marjorie.  He is survived by three sons, Alfred Raymond, Jr. (Cindi) , John Marshall (Jeri), and Nelson Grant Coe(Cheryl). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Andrew, Alison , Grant,  Jeff,  Jenna, and Laura Barr, wife of Brian Barr. He also had one great grandchild, Zachary Barr. He also is survived by cousins, nephews and nieces, too numerous to mention

He was a WWII Pacific Theater US Army Air Force veteran who served on B-29s as a tail gunner.  He received an Air Medal with one OLC, WWII Victory Medal, an American Theater-Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with one Silver Star, and a Good Conduct medal.

He worked for over 30 years with the Sun Oil Company.  He retired to do some farming and take care of his wife. His greatest joy came from family and was especially fond of his grandchildren and great grandchild. 

On Wednesday, July 5, friends may call at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Inc, 4220 Edgmont Ave. Brookhaven Pa. 19015, at 10:00 am. It will be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am and interment at the Edgewood Memorial Park, 325 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, Pa. 19342 to follow.  A luncheon will take place following at the Concordville Inn, 780 Baltimore Pike, Glen Mills, Pa. 19342. Donations in Mr. Coe’s memory should be made to the Upland Baptist Church.
