Ronald A. Mayo, Sr., 76,
passed away November 15, 2009 at his home. Born in Crewe, VA, he was a resident of Media, Pa, (Middletown Twp.) for 40 years.
He spent his childhood in Harrisburg, Pa, and Upland, Pa.
He was a graduate of Eddystone High School, class of 1951. He owned and operated Mayo Plumbing out of Upland, Pa, for 55 years.
He belonged to Beckett Golf Club, Swedesboro, NJ. He was an avid golfer and sportsman. He was a devoted family man and a pillar of strength for his family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor. His family and friends enjoyed his jokes, funny stories, and wry sense of humor.
He was a Korean War Navy Veteran.
He was the beloved husband of Elaine Curry Mayo for 55 years.
He was the son of the late Carleton W. and Verda Frye Mayo, Sr.
He was the loving father of Ronald Mayo Jr. of Upland, Pa, and Jeffrey Mayo (Koko) of Las Vegas, NV, Rosalind Mayo of Media, Pa, Julie Mayo Moran (Patrick) of West Chester, Pa, Melissa Webber (Jack) of West Chester, Pa, and Jennifer Mabee (Joseph) of West Chester, Pa. He was survived by his sister, Peggy Lease of West Grove, Pa, and predeceased by his siblings the late Carleton W. Mayo, Jr., Dorothy Helander, Renee Cali, and Gladys Zelznick.
He was also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place 11am Saturday morning at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015.
Friends may call Saturday 9-11 at the funeral home.
