Andrew R. Nelson – Glen Mills, Pa (Formerly of Brookhaven)

Followed his beloved wife Lidie Mae Nelson (nee Whitaker) into the next life on March 5th, 2015.

A 1957 graduate of Collingdale High School and a veteran of the United States Navy, Andy was a dedicated Mason of over 50 years who gave selflessly of himself throughout his life. A lifelong lover of music and the piano, Andy enjoyed playing the organ in church and, in later life after his retirement from the Philadelphia Electric Company in 1994, attending concerts at the Academy of Music and at his new home in Maris Grove.

Andy is survived by his son Robert, daughter-in-law Nicole, grandson Colton, sister Claire Herrington and brother-in-law Jim Herrington. In addition, Andy leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law Bill and Maggie Whitaker along with many nieces and nephews of whom he always spoke of proudly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 7- 9pm and Wednesday, March 11th 9-10 am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgemont Ave, Brookhaven, PA. 19015. The Funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery in Swedesboro, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Andy’s name to the Maris Grove Resident’s Care Fund, 100 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA. 19342.
