Mary E. Lowe, age 86, a lifelong resident of Upland, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on September 13, 2020.
She always looked forward to going out to dinner on the weekends with Terrie. It was always an adventure when her great granddaughters “Morg-Pie” and her “Mia Girl” joined in on the fun.
She loved working in the garden and tending to her flowers with Ryan and Danny, watching the birds from her room and her visits from friends. She couldn’t wait for her road trip adventures as she knew there would be shopping and fun with her daughter Terrie and she never knew where they would go or when they would come home, but that was her favorite part as there were always new adventures to be had, including the time she went to Cherry Crest Farms and found herself in a corn maze.
Her favorite road trip adventures were with Terrie and her “Angelina” to see the foliage and the trees change color, going as far south as Sky Line Drive and as far north as New Hampshire to take a 5 hour train ride through the mountains.
She enjoyed the Mondays when she would go to Bobbie’s to spend time with her grandchildren, but her most enjoyable days were when she got to spend time with her great granddaughter Rylee Ellen (whom was named after her).
She was often found on the phone having long conversations with her daughter Bobbie or her granddaughter Chrissy.
Mary is predeceased by her husbands, Wilbur Lowe and James A. Shepard; daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Lowe; and her brothers, Robert Walter Achuff and William Achuff
She is survived by her 3 children, Roberta “Bobbie” (Chip) Lowe Cucchi, William “Billy” (Mary) Lowe, and Terrie Lynn Shepard; honorary daughters, Kim Hunter and Little Evie Frazier.
She always held a special place in her heart for her grandson David M. Vay and his wife Dawn Marie Vay whom she always referred to as her granddaughter. She will be missed greatly by her great-grand children Morgan Vay and Mia Vay whom she also had a strong connection with. She will also be missed by her baby brother, Joseph Achuff who came to visit her once a month.
She is survived by 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
All services will be private.
