Brian A. Conklin
Brian A. Conklin, age 34, of Parkside Pa., formerly of Northeast Philadelphia, passed away on September 26, 2023.
Brian was born on a MASH site in South Korea, where soon after the family moved to the family dairy farm via assignment in Texas. Brian spent most of his childhood in Michigan earning chore money milking cows to buy a paintball gun. Brian and his kid brother would spend endless hours watching wrestling, where then they would practice wrestling moves on their trampoline.
His teenage years were spent in Northeast Philadelphia, graduating from Carver High School of Engineering and Science in 2007. Brian joined the army National Guard in 2008 as a Calvary scout. Brian was deployed to Kuwait in 2012. Brian spent 12 years in the Pa National Guard creating unbreakable bonds of brotherhood with many.
As soon as he returned from Kuwait his dream was to complete the fire academy and he did in December 2013. Brian is at heart, a ladder man. His favorite part of the job was “breaking shit”. He began his career at ladder 21, The Germantown Knights, he then transferred to engine 33-the powder keg and lastly at Ladder 4 as part of the SW Philly Junkyard Dawgz. He loved the camaraderie that came with both the Cav Scouts and the Ladder 4. He would speak endlessly of the great guys and the great times they had together. In his spare time, you know before kids, he was a dart aficionado and a shuffle board pro. He is known for his strong diligent demeanor, that was studded with witty quips, one line zingers and specialized in dad jokes. He often was playing many games of darts with this brother and father. He loved his children and wife endlessly and enjoyed rough housing with Bishop and snuggling with his baby girl, Ada-James.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Charlotte Conklin.
Brian is survived by his wife of 6 years, Erica C. Conklin (nee Yatsuk), children, Bishop, (4 years old) and Ada-James Conklin (14 months old) parents, Bruce A. and Mi-suk Conklin, brother, James (Kelly) Conklin and nephew, Kegan Conklin.
