It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Dad, Charles “Charlie” Marquardt, on the evening of December 10, 2018. Charlie was born and raised in Girardville, spent the majority of his life in Parkside, and the last 12 years at Maris Grove in Glen Mills. He was a graduate of Butler Township High School and served in the US Army during WWII. He spent his career at Sun Oil Refinery in Marcus Hook, mainly in the instruments department, first as a technician and finishing as a supervisor, retiring in 1983. He was very involved in Our Lady of Charity Church and became a Eucharistic Minister. He was a talented handyman, loved to walk, and was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame football and the New York Yankees. Charlie was a devoted family man and a wonderful storyteller. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie, his parents, and 5 siblings.
Charlie is survived by his loving children Charles (Rita), Marie, Kathy (Vince), and Anne; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass Thursday (Dec. 20) 11am at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA, 19015. Visitation Thursday (Dec. 20) 10-11am at the church. Burial SS Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA, 19064. IN lieu of flowers donations can be made to Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington DC, 20090-6231.
