David Lohin
David Lohin of Chadds Ford, Pa died at home on April 30, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a battle with cancer.
Dave was born in Chester, Pa on October 29, 1958, to John and Pauline Lohin.
He was first and foremost a family man; devoted to his parents, Nan and Pop, he never missed a family event and was always the center of interesting conversations and stories.
Dave and his wife Margie had a lifelong chemistry. They traveled to Ryan’s hockey games often starting out in the wee hours of the morning. Recently they enjoyed walks together at nearby Longwood Gardens.
Dave took an active role in the lives of his children, never missing Danielle’s soccer games or Ryan’s hockey practices. Their accomplishments are living proof of his devotion.
Dave had a warmth and openness towards everyone; he loved to talk and laugh with family, friends, and those he just met. Dave had a curiosity for different places and cultures, and loved to travel and connect with people from all walks of life.
Dave was proudly committed to his work at Apple Vacations, and retired as a Facilities Manager after a 38-year career. Everyone who knew him felt his kindness and generosity. He touched lives, showed up when it mattered, and solved even the most complicated problems.
David’s memory lives on through his wife of 35 years, Margie; his children, Danielle McCarty (Zac), Ryan; and his 8-month-old grandson, Declan. His quirky outlook on life will always be remembered by his three sisters, along with cousins, nieces and nephews, and all of his Apple Vacations colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dave Lohin Memorial Fund (at any TD Bank location), or through GoFundMe (gofundme.com/dave-lohin-memorial-fund). They will be used to purchase a memorial bench in his honor at his favorite walking spot, Pennsbury Township Park. Remaining funds will be donated to the Longwood Fire Company.
In place of a traditional funeral, the family will have a celebration of Dave’s life in the near future.
