Doris McCracken Bergantz August 16, 2010

Doris McCracken Bergantz, 84, passed away on August 16, 2010 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center, Lima, Pa.

She was born in Chester, Pa, to Violet and Francis McCracken. For twenty years, Doris owned and operated a hair salon in Upland, Pa. During those years, she made many lifelong friends. Doris retired from hairdressing, but continued to work in a new career of real estate.

Doris enjoyed many other activities, such as ceramics, traveling, reading, local politics, and keeping a nice home. Family times were a priority for her, especially holiday dinners and pool picnics. Her grandchildren were a constant source of joy for her.

Challenges are a part of every life and Doris would consistently strive to meet them. During her later years, kindness and assistance from others were needed to meet these challenges. She and her family were blessed with friends and care givers at Chestnut Ridge Apartments, Sunrise Assisted Living, and Fair Acres Geriatric Center and Compassionate Care Hospice.

She was predeceased by her siblings; Francis McCracken, William McCracken, and Violet Rosenberg.

She was survived by her children; Janice (Michael) McGough of Wallingford, Pa, and Howard (Shirley) Garneski of Nokomis, Fl; 5 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and very close friends, Kathy Clarke and Dawn Stinger.

All services will be private.
