Evon Anthony Lynch 49, departed this life suddenly on Friday, September 20, 2013 at his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
Evon, affectionately called “Andy” was born October 4, 1963 in Kingston, Jamaica to Errol Lynch and Mabel Chambers (Williams). Evon was a proud graduate of Dinthill Technical High School’s class of 1982. He later went on to study at Tool Makers Institute where he completed his study to become a tool and die maker. In the early years he worked at Wisynco Group Ltd. as a Tool Maker in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He then migrated to the United States where he continued working in the same field while employed at Southco in Pennsylvannia. At his untimely death Evon was employed at the Port of Wilmington. He also worked diligently as a representative for ACN, Inc. He took great pleasure in singing and was respectably known for having a sweet voice, which has been compared to that of Lionel Richie. Andy throughout his singing career performed under the stage names “Andy Ranks”, “Mr. Smooth”, and “Champagne Andy”. Evon also took great pleasure in his most notable role as a DJ. He was often the requested DJ for various events held by his family and friends.
Andy was a kind hearted person who willingly offered assistance to his co-workers, friends, and especially his family. Many will miss his infectious smile and jovial laughter. To know him was to love him. He was a man that valued family and friendship.
Evon is predeceased by his stepmother the late Christiana Lynch, and step-brother George Leon Christie. He is survived by his father Errol Lynch, mother Mabel Williams, step-father Owen Williams, his 3 children Sasha Pottinger, Evon Lynch Jr., Dashonna Lynch, his sisters Aldith McLarthy, Joan Mitchell, Yvonne Dixon, Juliet Phillips, Heather Bressi, Coleen Turvey, Lena Goodman, step-brother Tarza Williams,step-sisters Simone and Sophia Wilson, adopted sisters Carol Wilson, Shirlee Chandler, and Lynn Buchanan. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service Saturday 9:30am at The First Assembly of God Church, 201 Hawthorne Dr., Wilmington, De, 19802. Visitation Friday evening 6-8pm and also Saturday morning 8:00-9:30 at the church. Interment Silverbrook Cemetery.
