Francis (Franny) B. Gallagher, 83, died Oct. 10, 2006 at his home in Brookhaven, Pa. after a long illness. Born in Sun Village, Pa a life long resident of Delaware County, Pa only leaving for war and work. Educated at Smedley Jr. High School, St. Roberts, and was a member of the St. James class of 1942 ,all in Chester, Pa. Member of America’s Greatest generation, he served with the WWII Navy in the skies over the South Pacific. Earned his Engineering degree from PMC(now Widener University) where he was also outstanding athlete. Taught classes and coached several sports at PMC for number of years pursuing a career with F.W.Woolworth CO. from which he retired as VP/ Superintendent of Construction based in Manhattan. Inducted into Delco Hall of Fame in 1987 and while his health allowed an avid golfeer. Husband of Peg Klotz Gallagher of Brookhaven, Pa. Father of William Gallagher of Bangor, Pa., Bernard Gallagher of Milmont Park, Pa., John Gallagher of Wallingford, pa., Frances Shuebrook of Blandford, Nova Scotia, Kathleen Gallagher of Parkside, Pa., Ruth Gallagher of West Chester, Pa, Margaret Powell of Wheeling West Virginia, Eileen Nelson of Aston, Pa. Grandfather of 18, great grandfather of 15. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. at St. Robet’s Church 20th St. and Providence Ave., Chester, Pa. 19013.
