George D. Howat
George D. Howat, 61, passed away August 30, 2011 at Wilmington Hospital, Wilmington, De. Born in Chester, Pa, he was a longtime resident of Wilmington, De. He attended Chichester High School and graduated from Sun Valley High School class of 1968. He worked for Westinghouse for many years as a pipe fitter. He was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army. He was a Spec 4 in the US Army Company D, 2nd Battalion 7th Calvary Airmobile. He was awarded 8 medals including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star medal with “V” Device for heroism in combat in Tay Ninh Province, Republic of Vietnam. He also received a National Defense Service Medal and an Army Commendation Medal. He was predeceased by his parents; Dorothy and George Howat; his stepmother Margaret Howat; his brothers Jack and Timothy Bresset. His is survived by his daughter Melissa (John) Renzi-Justice; sisters Jean (Charles) Cycyk, Nancy (Mike) Giffith, Sandra Weld, and Sharon (Late David) Robinson; grandson JJ Justice; lifelong friends Sheilah Gray and Holly Gray.
