Hazel Rowles
Hazel (Dixon) Rowles passed away peacefully in her sleep at Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, PA on March 15, 2022. She was born in Wilmington, DE on May 23, 1916. Hazel was preceded in death by her older sister, Dorothy Barksdale, and younger sister, Betty Ludlow. She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1934 with honors and married her beloved husband, Frank, the following year. Hazel and Frank were happily married for 47 years until his passing in 1982. They lived for the entirety of their married life in Parkside, PA. They enjoyed travel, family gatherings and service to others. Hazel was a longtime, active member of Parkside United Methodist Church. She was also a dedicated member of the Eastern Star organization and proudly served as Worthy Matron. Hazel celebrated her 105th birthday last May. In honor of this remarkable milestone birthday, the community organized special festivities, including a vehicle parade courtesy of first responders in the Lansdale Borough, along with a DJ who provided music and lots of food for the guests. State Rep. Steve Malagari and Lansdale Mayor Garry Herbert also participated in the festivities, delivering Hazel with a special proclamation celebrating her big day. Hazel was a compassionate, caring and fun-loving woman. She was warm and welcoming to all and had a witty sense of humor and smile for everyone she met.
