Helen Walton Ayers, 81,
passed away March 3, 2009 at home in Aston, Pa. Born in Woodbury, NJ, she was a resident of Aston for the last 8 years. She previously resided in Brookhaven, Pa, for 45 years. She graduated from Clifton Heights High School where she was the valedictorian of her class. She attended West Chester State Teachers College , West Chester, Pa.
She was a proud member of Delaware County Girl Scouts for 50 years where she was a trainer and a leader. She received a 50-year pin, the Juliette Low Award as well as many other awards. From January 1989 to October 9, 2005 she was the Coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Aston Township. She was a volunteer for Friends of the Library for the Aston Library where she was also on the Board of Directors. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Aston, Pa, and formerly she was a member of Our Lady of Charity Parish, Brookhaven, Pa and was in the Our Lady of Charity Choir. She was the wife of the late Stephen L. Ayers who passed away in 1985.
She was the mother of the late William Ayers. She is survived by her children, Stephen L. (Dee)Ayers III, Phoenixville, Pa,
John (Bev) Ayers, Pennsburg, Pa,
James (Paula) Ayers, Aston, Pa,
Jeanne (Randy) Wilkinson, Aston, Pa, and Kathy Ayers, Annandale, Va. She was the grandmother of Ronald and Timothy Sechler, Laurie Frost, Jennifer Ayers, Melissa Manning, Jason, Sydney, and Taylor Ayers, James and Maria Ayers, and Ethan Ayers. She was the Great grandmother of 4.
Funeral service Saturday 10:30am at St. Joseph’s Church, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston, Pa, 19014. Friends may call Friday 7-9pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015 and also Saturday morning 10-10:30am at St. Josephs Church.
