Jacqueline Emhe, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Brookhaven, PA, on April 3, 2022.
Jackie was the oldest of 10 children, born to Robert and Marie (Hickey) Eddis. She was raised in Parkside, PA., last residing in Brookhaven for over 35 years. Jackie loved painting, art, reading, travel, and spending time with family. She felt she had a good, long life.
As a teenager, Jackie’s father said she could leave school, “if she had a good job”; So, after a small fib of needing to support her large family, Jackie was employed at Bell Telephone. Always working, she completed her education, and found her way into interior design, a field she greatly enjoyed.
Jackie was stylish, passionate, and never shied away from sharing her thoughts – good or bad. She was also forgiving and did not hold a grudge.
Some of Jackie’s happiest days involved traveling around the world. Her greatest sadness was the loss of three children, Jennifer, Stephen and Kevin. Jackie is survived by her son, Shawn Emhe of Wilmington, DE, daughter, Laurie Emhe and her husband of Cape May Court House, NJ, seven siblings, and her life partner of 48 years, Harry Shuster. In her wake are several “traveling” grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, for whom she took great pride and joy in their happiness and accomplishments.
In lieu of flowers; Jackie would say, “give to someone who needs it”. The family will have a private Celebration of Life. Arrangements made by Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, Brookhaven, PA. Online condolences can be sent via www.batemanfuneralhome.com
