James A. Elmer, 74, passed away January 7, 2007 at Crozer Chester Medical Center, Upland, Pa. Born in Lewistown, Pa, he resided in Brookhaven, Pa, for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College, Lock Haven, Pa and received his masters degree of Education from Villanova, Pa. He was employed with the Penn Delco School District for 33 years where he retired in 1993. He was a teacher of chemistry and Advanced Physical Science. He also founded the planetarium at Sun Valley High School and was inducted into the Sun Valley Hall of Fame the inaugural year. He was a member of Sun Valley High School and the American Galatic Association. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force and a Korean war veteran. He was the son of the late John and Sarah Elmer and was the brother of 4 late sisters and 1 late brother. He was the beloved husband of Helen Elmer for 48 years. He was the loving father of James Michael Elmer (Mary Jo) of Reading, Pa, Paul David Elmer (Susan) of Gap, Pa, John Raymond Elmer (Mindy) of Chester Springs, Pa, Teresa Jean Thornton (David) of Ambler, Pa, and Carolyn Marie Wert (Tim) of Newtown, Pa. He was also the grandfather of 12. A memorial service will take place Friday at 7:30 pm in the Sun Valley High School auditorium, Pancoast and Dutton Mill Ave., Aston, Pa, 19014. Friends may call Friday 5:30pm – 7:30pm at the school. Interment will be private.
