James Forsyth, Sr., 75, passed away March 22, 2017 at his home. He was born in Chester and resided there his whole life. He was a graduate of St. James Catholic High School, class of 1959 and Delaware Technical Community College. He was an officer for the Chester Police Department from 1969-1993 and after retirement was a security guard for Riddle Village. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police #19 and was a former member of the Woodland String band and Mary Help of Christians Cenacle. He was a United States Air Force veteran. James is predeceased by his parents Chester and Mildred Forsyth.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Eleanor (nee Broomall) Forsyth ; his children Thomas Chubb, Jr., James Chubb, Joseph Chubb, Paul Forsyth, James Forsyth, Jr., Chester Forsyth, Noreen Chubb-Jones, Rebecca Hedrick, and Maria Fisher; sister Judith King; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral mass Wednesday 10:30am at St. Katherine Drexel Church, 1920 Providence Ave., Chester, Pa, 19013. Visitation Tuesday evening 7-9pm at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Egmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015 and also Wednesday 9:30-10:30am at St. Katherine Drexel Church. Interment Washington Crossing Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
