“Big Jim” World War II Army Vet and POW.
James H. Schoen, 87, of Brookhaven, Pa, passed away December 4, 2006 at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ann Schoen with whom he resided.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Springfield, Mr. Schoen lived the past 3 years in Brookhaven and previously resided 30 years in Ogden, Pa, with his longtime companion, Martha Dagenhart.
Mr. Schoen was the Transportation supervisor for 38 years at Westinghouse Electric in Lester, Pa, before retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 0951 and a lifetime member of the Parkside Fire House. Big Jim will be fondly remembered for his generous nature and kindness to all animals.
Mr. Schoen served as a 1st Sergeant in the US Army during WWII for the 7th armored tank division. He was a prisoner of war for 9 months.
Mr. Schoen was the son of the late James H. and Lauretta M. Schoen of Collingdale, Pa., Jime was predeceased by his brother, John and his longtime companion, Martha Dagenhart.
Survivors: Sons, Jim Schoen (Charlotte) of Middletown, DE, Jack Schoen (Ann) of BRookhaven, Pa, daughter, Judy Schoen of Glen Mills, Pa, Sister, Helene Downey of Ridley Park, Pa, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Service: 11 am Thursday, December 7th at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Interment Edgwood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, Pa. Friends may call Thursday 10 am-11 am at the funeral home.
