Joan M. Rodgers Kane
Joan M. Rodgers Kane, 64, of Brookhaven, Pa. died at home on July 26, 2020 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. A life-long resident of Brookhaven, Joan was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Joan A. (Parvis) Rodgers. She was a 1973 graduate of Sun Valley High School. Joan recently retired from First Quality Enterprises, Inc. where she was employed as an associate research scientist. She was previously employed at Covidien, Confab/Tyco and spent many years at Scott Paper Company in Chester. Joan’s life was dedicated to her family, especially her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed photography, the beach and mountains, attending music concerts, and was an accomplished seamstress. She sewed beautiful christening gowns and made Halloween costumes for family and friends. Joan’s generosity knew no bounds. Kind, considerate and loving, she always put the needs of others above herself. In addition to her parents, Joan is predeceased by her husband, Philip Kane; and her brothers Donald, David and Paul Rodgers (Karen). She is survived by her brothers, Larry Rodgers (Loretta), of Aston and Timothy Rodgers of Upper Darby; and sister Nancy Furmanak (John), of Media; nephews, Thomas Furmanak (Dana) of Philadelphia and Ian Rodgers; nieces Laura Peterson (Patrick), Lisa Rodgers Fairchild (Brian), Kate Rodgers (Alek) of West Chester, Jennifer and Ashley Rodgers of Middletown; great nieces Keira, Karlie, and Kelsey Peterson, and Emilie Fairchild; and great nephew Kaden Peterson.
Visitation: 9-11 a.m., Aug. 1 at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
