John J. Roberts, 88, of Brookhaven, Pa, a retired Division Manager at State Farm and Our Lady of Charity parishioner, died Dec. 13 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Born in Harrisburg, Mr. Roberts grew up in Glen Lyon, Pa, the son of Anna Roberts. He was a resident of Brookhaven since 1961 and an Our Lady of Charity parishioner. Mr. Roberts graduated from Penn State University and Dickinson Law School. He was a Captain in the Army’s JAG unit in World War II. He worked as a Division Manager at State Farm for 37 years before retiring in 1984. He loved music and food, and enjoyed serenading his family and sharing gifts of fruit and candy. He supported numerous charities, and was an avid coin collector, stamp collector, and golfer. He was married to Lillian Roberts for 37 years, until her death in 1979. He was surivied by his wife of 26 years, Celia Roberts; his children, Lillian (Rick) Hilles, John (Charlene) Roberts Jr., Mary (Paul) Swenson, Rita (Jim) McDonough, Tom(Patty) Roberts, and Carol (John) Bender; stepchildren, Barbara Hardy, Judy (Jim) Barger, Margie (Errol) Roberts, Erna (John) Bullock, and Aileen Murray; 31 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday 11 am at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Friends may call Saturday 9:30 am – 11 am at the church. Interment S.S.
