John Lohin, 91, of Parkside, Pa, died peacefully on September 23, 2013. Born and raised in Coal Castle, Pa, John graduated from Cass Township High School. He was a veteran of the US Army in WWII. For over 30 years he worked as a joiner at Sun Ship and Dry Dock.
He was a recent resident of Glen Mills Senior Living and he thoroughly enjoyed the care and company of new friends.
John was known for his keen observations, wry humor, and delicious tomatoes. His favorite time was spent with family, especially while watching the Eagles and Phillies.
He was predeceased in death by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Lohin.
He is survived by his son David (Margie) Lohin; his daughters Elaine (Don) Kunze, Ro Lohin (Kevin Wixted), Joanne Uhing; brothers Joe, Paul, and Emil Lohin; sister Helen Ann Kessler; grandchildren Scott and Brett Uhing, Danielle and Ryan Lohin, and Christopher (Michelle) Schade.
Funeral service Friday 11am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Friday 9:30-11am at the funeral home. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to SS Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, 107 S. Fourth St., Minersville, Pa, 17954.
