John P. Spanier

John P. Spanier, 89, passed away January 22, 2009 at Wallingford Nursing Home, Wallingford, Pa.

Born in Chester, Pa, he has been a

resident of Wallingford, Pa, for the past 30 years. He has previously lived in Birgenfield, NJ, Trainer, Pa, and also Chester, Pa. He worked for Ford Motors out of Chester, Pa and retired from the Mahwah Plant in New Jersey. He belonged to Union 918 in Chester, Pa, St. Johns Chrysostom, Wallingford, Pa, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5546 out of Trainer, Pa.

He was a veteran of the United States Army WWII. He spent 5 years in active service, spent time in India building Quanson Huts and also spent time in Camp Lee, VA. He was survived by his loving wife, Alice Spanier of Wallingford, Pa, for 59 years.

He was the brother of the late George Spanier who passed away during active duty in WWII, Joseph Spanier of Harrisburg, Pa, and the late Cathy Smagala and Ann Spanier, Joan Raftovich of Lancaster, Pa. Funeral service will be held Monday 11 am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave, Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Friends may call Monday 10-11am at the funeral home.

Interment Immaculate Heart of Mary, Linwood, Pa. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice in John’s name.
