Joseph A. Zygmunt, 89, passed away peacefully November 30, 2017 at his home. Born in Dupont, PA, he has been a resident of Brookhaven, PA, since 1963. He graduated from Dupont High School and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Widener University (’84) in business management.
As a member of the United States Air Force, he honorably served his country for over seven years as a flight engineer and crew chief in the 96th Bomb Squadron. His team worked on the B-29 Superfortress and was consistently recognized for excellence and exceeding performance standards.
He retired after 37 years as a proud employee of the Boeing Company. During his tenure he focused on the Chinook CH-47 helicopter and V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor projects. Joe volunteered for the Boeing Management Association and participated in the design and construction of a flight simulator for elementary school education. He facilitated the donation of the simulator to a public school in Delaware. He remained an active member of the Boeing Leadership Association.
He loved to watch Fox News and was an avid Philly sports fan. Above all else, he was a devoted family man. He was predeceased by his devoted and loving wife Eleanor Haduck Zygmunt.
He is survived by his children Donna Schappell (Richard), and Andrea Boyce (Brian); Joseph Zygmunt, Jr., Anthony Zygmunt (Lorna) his grandchildren Ashley Schappell, Anthony, Amanda, and Isabel Zygmunt.
