Kathryn “Katie” Scott (Detwiler), 65, passed away April 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a 5-year battle with breast cancer.
Katie was born on December 19, 1958. She was a lifetime resident of Brookhaven and graduated from Sun Valley High School in 1976. Katie worked various jobs throughout her life, but her longest employment was at Crozer Chester Medical Center working as a lab technician. She loved all things Disney, trips to Lancaster, watching Eagles football and decorating for all the holidays. She also enjoyed nights out with her many friends that she had made throughout the years from Cheeks, the Meetinghouse and the Sundance who all referred to her as “Mama Kate”. Her personality, wit and humor made everyone love her. Ultimately her biggest joy was spending time and watching her 12 grandchildren grow – Josh, Kevin, Jason, Maddie, Tyler, Ryan, Sean, Savannah, Izzy, Arthur IV, Evelyn and Abby.
Katie was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur G. Scott Jr., her parents Helen and Howard Detwiler Sr., and brother George Detwiler.
Survivors: Katie Wiggins (Zac), Emily McMinn (Ryan), Rebecca Casperson (Kevin), Jessie Scott, Arthur Scott III (Katie), 12 grandchildren, her brother Howard Detwiler Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in Katie’s honor at a later date and shared with her family and friends through social media.

April 4, 2024 at 12:39 pmKatie was one of my most favorite people in this world. She had a child like affection for all things Disney. She exuded joy in every smile, shared hugs with all she could. She adored her friends and deeply loved her family. She was the most beautiful soul and kind hearted woman, despite many life changing obstacles. My life is richer from her being in it. I will always carry her in my heart. Simply put …I Love you Mama Kate , thank you for being my friend.
