Mary Ellen McCullough, aged 64, passed away on January 19, 2025. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, friend, and Mimi who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary was born on February 24, 1960, in Drexel Hill, PA, where she spent her formative years. Mary was also a longtime resident of Parkside, PA and Wilmington, DE. She attended Upper Darby High School and then Strayer University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Mary spent over 30 years working at ChesPenn Health Services, most recently as the Administrative Director. Throughout her career, she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
But more than anything, Mary was a devoted mother. She loved spending time with her daughter, sisters, brother, nieces, and nephews. Mary loved having family and friends over for barbeques by the pool, enjoyed family vacations, walking through gardens, reading a good book on the beach, and most importantly, loved to bring joy and happiness to everyone around her.
Mary is survived by her beautiful daughter, Shana Wright (Bruce), brother Joseph Horiel Jr. (Cathy), sister Donna Horiel (Amy), nieces Kristina Dowd (James) and Catherine Anne Horiel, nephews Nicholas Horiel and Leif Anderson, and her grandson Kingston Wright. Mary was preceded in death by her father Joseph Horiel, her mother Rosemary Horiel, and sister Debra Anderson.
Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, 11am, at Our Lady of Charity Parish, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA, 19015 with a visitation starting at 10am in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Susan G. Komen (https://www.komen.org/how-to-help/donate).
