MaryAnn Talley, 71, passed away September 5, 2017 peacefully at her home. She was born to Nicholas and Yolanda Evangelista and raised in SW Philadelphia. She was a 1963 graduate of West Catholic Girls HS. She has been a resident of the Toby Farms section of Brookhaven since 1972. A very active member of her community, she served as a Chester Township Committee Woman, founded the Chester Township Women’s Republican Club, and operated voting polls for several years. A published author, she chronicled her family memories and mother’s recipes in the book “Yolanda’s Kitchen” (pub. 2016). She was beloved by many and earned the honorary title, “Neighborhood Grandma” thru selfless acts and love of her neighbors. She will be remembered most for her love of family, forgiving nature, tenacious spirit, and maintaining a smile despite her long-term suffering.
She is survived by her longtime companion of 31 years, James Enright; her devoted children Jacqueline Chesney (Jeffrey), Deborah Talley (Paul Beane), and Michael Talley (Krista); her brothers Adolph (Laura), Anthony, Mario (Jeannette), and Nicholas (Rachel) Evangelista; her beloved grandchildren Jessica, Krista, Lauren, Brandon, Nicholas, Jessica, and Jason; her 2 great grandchildren J.J. and Gemma; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Mass Monday, 11:30 at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA. Visitation Monday 9:30-11:30 AM at the church. Interment will take place Tuesday, 11:30 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
