Michele “Mike” Mattera, age 95, a longtime resident of Brookhaven, passed away on July 5, 2020 peacefully at home.
Mike, born June 16, 1925, on the island of Ischia in Italy, immigrated to the United States in 1951. He worked for 31 years at Boeing, as a machinist, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing Pinochle, vacations at the Jersey Shore, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria; his children, Johanna Mattera and her children Michael and Francesca; Marina (Mac) MacDonald and their daughter, Sophia; and Frank (Liana) Mattera and their children Valentina, Alessia, and Michael. Mike also has extended family in Italy.
His visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 9:30-11:00am at Our Lady of Charity Church, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA followed by his funeral mass at 11:00am.
Burial: Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.
