Robert “Smitty” Smith
Robert “Smitty” Smith, 90, passed away April 28, 2017 at Crozer Keystone Hospice in Taylor Hospital. Born and raised in Chester, he lived his adult life in Upland, Pa. For 38 years he worked for Scott Paper as a machinist in the mill and retired as a supervisor. He was a member of the Eddystone VFW and the Green Ridge American Legion, Post 926. He loved going to the casinos, both in Chester and Atlantic City, NJ. Smitty was a veteran of the US Navy and served in WWII.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years Bella Smith; his daughters Donna Smith and Christine Mitchell; and his siblings Harvey, Frank, and Warren Smith and Marion Glover.
He is survived by his children Ruth (Bill) Watson, Florence (Roman) Kramar, Michelle (John) DiBello, Dave Herman, and son in law Gary Mitchell; his brothers Arthur and George Smith; grandchildren Donna (Brian) Stoner, Bill (Dawn) Watson, Steven (Megan) Watson, Brian (Kim) Watson, Nick (Laura) Kramar, Rob (Renae) Kramar, Dan (Staci) Mitchell, Diane (Greg) Bianchi, Samantha DiBello, and Daniel DiBello; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral service Tuesday 11am at the Bateman-Allen Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, PA, 19015. Visitation Tuesday 10-11 at the funeral home. Burial Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA.
