Ruth Anne Shoup December 9, 1946 - March 15, 2023

Date of Funeral

March 25, 2023

Ruth Anne Shoup, 76, passed away March 15, 2023, at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Born in Chester, she has been a lifelong resident of Delaware County, residing in Media for the last 20 years. She was a graduate of Sun Valley High School, class of ’64 and graduated from Widener with her bachelor’s degree. She worked for The Boeing Company in Ridley Park for 22 years before she retired in 2009.

Through Boeing’s charity work, she was involved with the Arts and Business Council of Philadelphia and named the Business On Call Volunteer of the Year for 2002.  She loved all of the volunteer opportunities she participated in and the people she met along the way.

During her tenure at Boeing, she had the responsibility of managing Boeing’s suites at Wells Fargo Center, the former Spectrum, Veterans Stadium and Citizens Bank Park. She was instrumental in Boeing’s procurement of the suite at Citizens Bank Park.  That is when her love of the Philadelphia Phillies flourished.  She was also in charge of organizing several Family Days at the Boeing site and at the ballpark.  She was affectionately known as “the ticket lady” to many Boeing employees.  She also was involved with the Intern program and New Hire Orientation.  She loved meeting new employees and sharing her love of Boeing’s aircrafts.

After her retirement, she worked for the Philadelphia Phillies as a Game Day Staffer for 10 years. She was a devout fan, and she loved the opportunities that arose from being part of the organization. She was honored to take down one of the numbers of the Countdown Clock at Veterans Stadium. She loved to travel and went to Spring Training to cheer on the Phillies multiple times.  But most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family.  Ruth Anne never met a stranger. To her, everyone was a friend.

Ruth Anne was predeceased by her parents Walter R. Stretch and Ruth E. Yoder Stretch Street; her stepfather Russell C. Street; her brother Walter C. Stretch and sister-in-law Susan Stretch.

She is survived by her children Laura (Nick) Kramar and Beth (Rich) Fachet; her grandchildren Ashley (Cody) Hill, Scottie Reynolds, Billy Fachet, and Lucas Kramar; her 3 great grandchildren; her loving nephews and nieces and their children.

    Laura & Family,

So sorry for the loss of your Mom. She truly was a GREAT woman. I had the privilege of working with Ruth for years at Boeing. Everyone knew Ruth and couldn’t wait til the Phillies tickets came out for $2.00…. Please know you/your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ah, Laura – so sorry to hear this. Your mom was one of the first people I met when I started working here at Boeing – and she was so kind. I was just thinking about her the other day, wondering what was up with her. I am sending all my love and prayers your way.
