Sandra Joy Loane
Sandra Joy Loane, 65, passed away January 20, 2014. Born in Cornwall, NY, she grew up in Wayne and Maple Glen, Pa. She raised children in Abington, Pa, and still has strong family connections to Central Valley, NY. She has spent the last 10 years in Broomall, Pa.
She was a graduate of Upper Dublin High School, class of 1967. She attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater, NYC in 1968-1969; received her B.A. from Temple University in Theatre and Communications in 1974; received her M. A. in Theater at Villanova University in 1994; received her M.A. in Secondary Education from Arcadia University in 1998.
She was a substitute teacher for many local area schools and was dubbed “The Rapping Sub”. She was the Assistant to the Dean of Graduate Studies at Arcadia University from 1992-2003. Most recently she worked for Chenega Integrated Systems as a Community Involvement Specialist Contractor for EPA from 2008-2013.
She was a judge/nominator for the Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre from 1999-2007. She was also involved in various theater performances with groups such as Swarthmore Players, Wyncote Players, LaSalle Music Theater, Playcrafters, and others.
She is predeceased by her parents Joan Hogan Loane and Joseph T. Loane and her brother Toby Loane.
She is survived by her sons David Cunningham (Julia Howard) and Joseph Cunningham (Holly Cunningham) and her sister Sharon Loane.
Memorial Service will take place Friday January 31, 2014 11am at the Hedgerow Theatre, 64 Rose Valley Rd., Media, Pa, 19063. Visitation Friday 10-11 at the theatre. Interment private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123-1718 and/or Taylor Hospice, 300 Johnson Ave., Ridley Park, Pa, 19078.
