Thelma McElvarr January 19, 1923 - August 31, 2024

Thelma McElvarr (née Miller), born on January 19, 1923, in Watsontown, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, at the age of 101, in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. Thelma resided many years in Chester, PA; in Brookhaven, PA; once her husband Joseph passed away and her later years in Paul’s Run Retirement Community. She spent her early years working at Fallato’s Ice Cream Parlor and only worked elsewhere briefly during the time her husband, Joseph, served in the war. Primarily, she dedicated her life to being a loving mother, housewife, and cherished grandmother.

A woman of many joys, Thelma held a deep affection for her family, which was at the heart of everything she did. Her hobbies included playing Bingo, cheering for the Phillies, and enjoying occasional trips to the casino. These simple pleasures brought great happiness to Thelma and those who knew her.

Thelma is survived by her son Richard McElvarr; son-in-law Richard Bromley [Joanne]; and her grandchildren Keith Bromley, Brian (Judy) Bromley, Karen (Jim) Rich, Brian (Jess) McElvarr, Jennifer (Steve) Cesarine, Kimmy McElvarr, and Kelle McElvarr. She was also a proud great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to many. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, daughter Joanne Bromley, and son Joseph McElvarr, granddaughter Dalene McElvarr and grandson Richard Bromley Jr.

Visitation will be held from 10-11am followed by a short Memorial. The burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul in Springfield, PA. Thelma’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
