Thomas Baker
Thomas Baker, Sr., 92, passed away peacefully July 20, 2018. Born in Bryn Mawr, PA, he was a lifelong resident of Media/Middletown Twp., other than the 2 years he spent in Liberia working with the Sun Co. He attended Media High School before enlisting in the US Navy during WWII. While at Media High he was an accomplished athlete; playing football, basketball, and running track. He also ran in 2 Penn Relays. After the war he worked for Sun Company as an Area Foreman before his retirement in 1984. Tom was an active member of Middletown Presbyterian Church, past President of the Penncrest PTA, and past President of the Aston-Middletown Little League. He loved to be outdoors and enjoyed walking, hunting, and fishing. He was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Helen P. Baker; his daughter Beverley Russell; grandchildren Kimberley Skozen and David Fulmele; and his siblings Ernest Baker (Who passed serving in WWII), John Baker, and Margaret Woods.
He is survived by his children Jay Baker (Dawn) and Thomas Baker (Karen); siblings Oliver Baker, Jane Reeves, and Ruth Himmelberger; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
Memorial service will take place Thursday August 9, 2018 11am at the Middletown Presbyterian Church, 273 S. Old Middletown Rd., Media, PA, 19063. Visitation August 9, 2018 10-11am at the church. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the “Deacon’s Board of Middletown Presbyterian Church”, 273 S. Old Middletown Rd., Media, PA, 19063.
